IWC has returned to one of its most classic models with the Portugieser Chronograph Classic, a purist approach in three new colour combinations.
The Portugieser is one of the oldest and best-known watches from IWC. No other watch family incorporates so many of the technical tours de force of haute horlogerie.

Appliquéd Arabic numerals, railway-track-style chapter ring, and characteristic Feuille hands: the new IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser Chronograph Classic has all the stylistic attributes of a typical Portugieser. Now the Swiss luxury watch company has released a revised edition of this timeless chronograph, featuring an even more purist dial design in three new colour combinations.
While the new Portugieser Chronograph Classic (Ref. 3903) features an elegant dial with the typical Portugieser railway-track-style chapter ring, gone are the subdivision of the seconds, delivering a cleaner, more contemporary look that’s further accentuated by the addition of convex sapphire glass.
The new timepiece retains the existing tried-and-tested IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre with flyback function, self-winding system, and a power reserve of 68 hours. The recorded time is particularly easy to read on the combined hour and minute counter at “12 o’clock”. A see-through sapphire-glass back provides a view of the movement and the rotor, which is adorned with Geneva stripes.
