The Karlmann King SUV takes design cues from a fighter jet and comes with enough luxury amenities to be dubbed the world’s most expensive SUV.
The past 24 months have seen the SUV segment revolutionised by the luxury brands as major marques like Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Jaguar leave the racetrack and head off-piste with dynamic sports utility models. However, all those pricey rides pale in comparison to the China-designed, Europe-assembled Karlmann King, an SUV that takes its lines from the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter.

With a price tag that seems to vary from US$1.8 million to north of US$3 million depending on your custom options, this seemingly pre-pimped SUV is not for everyone, especially given that you could have a whole fleet of Bentley Bentaygas for the same price.
Created by Beijing’s IAT Automobile Technology, and finished in stealth bomber-styled matte black by a team of “top vehicle craftsman in Europe”, the Karlmann King is nothing if not striking. The completely-customizable ride’s angular, polygonal lines and its carbon-fibre construction, which is set atop a chassis and engine by Ford, offers the eye-catching design that many found lacking in the SUVs from the established luxury brands. This is more street-ready Bat Mobile than family ride.

While the exterior is rather severe and brutal, the interiors promise to be more akin to a private jet cabin, complete with two airline style seats to offer maximum legroom. The company promises a plethora of options, ranging from a 40-inch television, wifi connectivity, minibar, coffee machine, and gaming console, to integrated laptops and mood lighting.
However, if this is the ride you’ve been waiting to scythe through traffic in, you might have to be quick, as the company only plans to build nine of these dramatic urban assault vehicles.
