Packed with user-friendly tech features, this electric grill from Current Backyard is a tantalising taste of the future of home barbecue.
Who doesn’t love a BBQ? Whether you’re grilling at the beach, at the back of the boat, or on the balcony at home, there’s something primitive and ah-so-satisfying about harnessing the power of fire to cook meat with your manly brethren assembled to lend moral support (and marinating tips). However, barbecues can also be a messy hassle, especially when you’re dwelling in the heart of the city, and electric barbecues have, till now, seemed more like that hot plate you had back in college.

However, that’s all about to change with the new Current Model G Dual-Zone Electric Grill from Current Backyard. The grill, which recently won the CES 2024 Innovation Awards in the smart home category, offers the power of gas and the ease of electric, complete with a fully wifi-enabled cooking system and proprietary app.
Leaving gas, charcoal, and the chance of a little accidental arson behind, the Current Grill preheats in ten minutes and allows for precise, even temperatures across the entire cooking space. With dual-zone flexibility allowing for independent right and left cooking zones, the Current Grill is also the only full size electric grill that heats up to 370 degrees Celsius, meaning you can sear to your heart’s delight.
Available in three colours, and a number of configurations, the grill’s advanced app allows grill masters to control the process with three unique modes as they cook– from manual control to hand holding. Users can also discover new recipes within the app, as well as receive notifications for functional features like when the grill and/or griddle is heated, when the SmartClean feature is done, when the grill is cool enough to be covered and more.
That means less time peering into the smoke and more time being the host with the most.
