Home mixology just got a lot easier with a line of Coca-Cola mixers.
Coke. It was probably the first mixer you ever reached for as a young lad hitting the town. However, we’d like to think that our palates have developed a bit since those early days and that we’d be looking for more complex flavours in the libations we whip up at home today.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Coca-Cola has tapped leading mixologists to create a new range of signature mixers, designed to add new dimensions to your home highballs.
Designed to pair perfectly with dark spirits – whether it’s a spicy rye whisky, a smooth-as-silk single malt, or an exotic aged rum – the bartenders experimented with over 200 contemporary and traditional ingredients to come up with four mixers that both honour Coca-Cola’s origins while forging a path to something new.
Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Smoky Notes by Max Venning, Bar of London’s Three & Three Sheets bar, is an intensely aromatic blend, with smoky hints that bring out the nuanced dimensions to deep, spiced rums and bold, premium whiskeys. You’ll find touches of ylang-ylang and ambrette seed, which is balanced with an elegant base of warm brown spices and Peru balsam.
Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Spicy Notes by Adriana Chía, of La Antigua Compañía de las Indias, Barcelona & Pippa Guy, and The American Bar at the Savoy in London, starts warm and finishes fiery, with a complex blend of citrus, ginger, spicy jalapeño, fragrant rosemary and aromatic jasmine, which combine to create a mixer with a considered balance of zest and earthy flavors that pairs beautifully with spiced rums, aged or gold tequilas and spicy or sweet whiskeys.
Crafted by Antonio Naranjo of Barcelona’s Dr. Stravinsky, Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Herbal Notes is floral, crisp and tart and was developed to deliver fresh and herbaceous notes for the discerning palate. Balancing refreshing notes of lemongrass with the earthy tones of dill seed and tagetes, it’s an inviting mixer with a refreshing, simple profile that pairs beautifully with whiskeys and most types of rum.
Finally, the Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Woody Notes by Alex Lawrence, former head bartender, at Dandelyan at the Mondrian, London, is a subtle blend of earthy patchouli, citrusy yuzu and aromatic basil that’s light and refreshing, with a hint of warmth. These elements, expertly blended, combine to enhance the mellow wood and sweet tropical flavours of golden rums and smoky to woody whiskeys.
Honoring the beverage brand’s heritage, the Signature Mixers are sold in a modern take on the Hutchinson glass bottle which pre-dates the contour bottle that has become synonymous with Coca-Cola. Additionally, each batch is stamped and marked with the signature of the bartender behind the mix.
