Ground-breaking nightlife venue The Iron Fairies has opened an enchanting new flagship outlet at the heart of Bali’s Seminyak neighbourhood.
If you’ve never heard of The Iron Fairies Hong Kong, then…well, that’s troubling, simply because it is one of the pinnacles of the city’s nightlife scene, which means you really should get out more. The creation of imaginative Australian designer Ashley Sutton, the bar-cum-club in Central, operated by Boutique Bars, set a new benchmark for entertainment in the city, one that’s only been challenged by other Sutton creations, including The Mixing Room and newbie Maggie Choo’s.
What we will forgive you for not knowing is that The Iron Fairies actually has its origins in Bangkok, where Sutton lives and allows his imagination to run wild. Now, the concept has been taken even further afield, with the opening of The Iron Fairies Bali in Seminyak, and if you liked the Hong Kong outpost, you’ve not seen anything yet.
The cavernous new venue continues The Iron Fairies’ whimsical fairytale design, one inspired by children’s books Sutton penned after his time working the mines of Western Australia (it’s also the inspiration for The Mixing Room off Pottinger Lane in Hong Kong).
Again, Sutton and Sandeep Sekhri, founder of Boutique Bars, have partnered to create something unlike anything else on the Island of the Gods, complete with inspired cocktails, live music, and decor that’s simply out of this world.
Envisioned as a full-on fairy factory, the eclectic space features eight furnaces on the ground floor that double as VIP rooms; further VIP spaces on the mezzanine, where bottle service is de rigueur; high catwalks that string across the room, three cocktail bars, and a stage for live bands.

At iron tables are bowls of finished iron fairies and above are bags of ‘fairy dust’ and scrolled incantations. Every part of the venue, which, as the new flagship, caters to 500 revellers across two levels, is handmade and took thousands of work hours by hundreds of craftsmen to complete.
The cocktails and the decor are complemented by a diverse, nightly range of musical entertainment, including live music from a resident Ghanese band, resident DJ Will Monfret, and a roster of visiting talents.

Bali has always been a spiritual destination and the arrival of The Iron Fairies in Seminyak only bolsters the island’s appeal for clubers and music-loving travellers from across the region.
