Maggie Choo’s is part cocktail bar, part cabaret, part late-night soiree, one laced with live entertainment and where the historic ambiance is juxtaposed by its modern take on vintage drinks. The creative vision of the award-winning architect and design maverick Ashley Sutton takes you on the journey of heroine Maggie Choo.
Upon inheriting the war-torn family’s antique shop, the orphaned Choo discovered a secret door that opened onto an abandoned bank built by the East India Company in 1847. The space has now converted into the opulent secret cabaret destination where the most intriguing patrons converge to tell their exciting stories over crafted classic concoctions.

Sutton has highlighted the banking days of the space with leather, imported teak, copper and the addition of a giant antique-style bank vault door, while old iron spiral staircases lead up to an attic space. The nostalgic vibes of the ornate decor will tell you the story of Maggie Choo’s storied past.
Ornate colonial-style walls and a vintage clock have been brought back to life to fuse the past and the present and the sensual atmosphere, illuminated by Art Deco lamps, lends an intimate setting. Punters dressed to the nines (mind the dress code) can mingle at hand-crafted wooden tables or take their libations at the vintage marble bank teller counter-turned-cocktail bar.

Honouring the era’s seductive figures and delicate beauty, Maggie Choo’s theatrical design elements are accentuated by a team of choreographed dancers who tempt bar-goers’ senses with their alluring performances. Complementing the troupe is an ever-changing roster of upcoming and established jazz and blues acts.
Maggie Choo’s selection of cocktails is built around classic potions reconstructed to today’s preferences. For example, Delusion features thyme-infused Pisco, pineapple juice, and a touch of citrus for a lighter blend perfect for the summer heat.
