Hotel and resort company Aman has introduced a collection of tailored swim shorts and resort-wear by Frescobol Carioca – and you don’t have to be on holiday to wear them.
So you’re looking for swim trunks that capture all the right kinds of attention next time you hit the beach. Where do you go? Online? The local mall? How about a luxury resort? Aman, a byword for luxury in the resort world, has collaborated with refined swimwear brand Frescobol Carioca to create a line of men’s swimwear that taps into the essence of eight Aman destinations.

Marrying Frescobol Carioca’s signature bold hues with sophisticated fabrics, the beach-focused range is designed with practicality in mind, allowing for an easy transition from beach to beach bar.
In a departure from the signature Carioca graphics, which are inspired by the mosaic pathways and landscape of Rio de Janeiro, the designers instead turned to the unique destinations of eight Aman sanctuaries for inspiration – Amanjiwo in Indonesia, Amankora in Bhutan, Amanzoe in Greece, Amanoi in Vietnam, Amanpuri in Thailand, Amangiri in the United States, Amanwella in Sri Lanka and Amanjena in Morocco.
Each design in the line takes its cues from a different dramatic setting. For example, the Jiwo shorts, named after Aman’s spiritual hideaway in Borobudur, Amanjiwo, embody the essence of the destination and incorporate intricate batik patterns reminiscent of the magnificent temples of Borobudur, and are available in a forest green shade inspired by the lush jungle that surrounds the hotel; while the Kora shorts are a tapestry of reds, sunflower yellow, and blues, recognising the abundance of colour present in Bhutanese textiles, with the seamless repeated pattern reflecting the meaning of Amankora’s name “circular pilgrimage” (they also take the name of the Bhutanese national dress).
The Zoe shorts take their cues from Greek architectural motifs and the Peloponnese coast on which secluded Amanzoe is located, and are available in an azure ‘Greek’ blue and white evil eye print, while the Noi shorts draw on the shapes and textures of the centuries-old tradition of silk weaving and embroidery in Vietnam, home to Amannoi, and come in a warm yellow and blue print.

The specially adapted styles have each been designed with a modern lifestyle in mind, and have been created especially for Aman to coincide with the brand’s 30th anniversary in 2018. Each style features ultra-quick drying polyamide fabric, side fasteners, a real button fly, and a fitted cut in a choice of lengths. The collection is complemented by essential pieces of resort-wear which include cool cotton t-shirts, and crisp linen shirts in neutral palettes of beige, white and light blue.
The Frescobol Carioca for Aman collection will be available to purchase both in select Aman boutiques around the world and on the Frescobol Carioca website.
