Just when you became comfortable with how your video looked in 4K, Panasonic has upped the ante again, with the release its newest mirrorless camera, the Panasonic Lumix S1H, the first in the world to shoot video in 6K.
If video quality is something that’s important to you – and don’t worry, we’re with you – then Panasonic’s newest innovation just might make you giddy. The newest addition to the Lumix S series, the Lumix S1H is a new digital single-lens mirrorless camera equipped with a full-frame image sensor and designed with cinematographers in mind.
As the world’s first camera capable of video recording at 6K and 24fps, 5.9K at 30fps, and 10-bit 60fps 4K/C4K, this new bit of kit combines the video quality of a professional camera and the high mobility of a mirrorless system.
Main features of the new mirrorless camera system include multiple video formats, which maximise the use of pixels in the full-frame sensor; rich graduation and wide colour space; 14 stops of dynamic range; a 225-area DFD contrast-detect AF system; sensor-shift image stabilization; a 5.760K OLED electronic viewfinder; and a 3.2-inch triaxial tilting LCD screen.
In addition, Panasonic has managed heat generated by video production at high resolutions, with the Lumix S1H said to offer non-stop, bufferless video recording (under the certified operating temperature). Then again, we guess it kind of depends on what you’re filming, right?
