A new cocktail bar in the heart of Hong Kong takes the fuss out of contemporary mixology.
Typically, when we hear something’s ‘on tap’, it’s a good thing. Sure, it probably has its connotations in pulling the perfect pint but let’s not limit it to beer because Hong Kong’s newest cocktail corner takes ‘on tap’ cocktails to a whole new level.
A collaboration between Taiwanese cocktail maestro Angus Zou (who opened the original Draft Land in Taipei in 2018) and innovative, award-winning Hong Kong bartender Antonio Lai of Tastings Group, Draft Land just might be the cocktail bar of your fantasies.

With an open face that looks out to Wyndham Street, Draft Land feels more like a deli than a cocktail bar, but it’s this simplicity that’s at the heart of the concept, with the back wall dominated by ranks of 24 copper taps, from which flow forth some of the city’s best pre-made libations.
Specialising in seasonal, ever-changing pre-batch-only and garnish-free cocktails, Draft Land takes the wank-factor out of mixology; like the sound of one of the drinks on the backboard? Try a taste sip. Found a drink you love? Order the full sized version, which is delivered within seconds, no flaming or flaring, no leather aprons or ironic moustaches, just good drinks served quickly at a reasonable price. A unique Draft Sydney injects both cocktails and mocktails with nitrogen or carbon dioxide to offer a distinctive twist to a line up of 40 Zou and Lai-created drinks, which start from HK$90.

Top drops include the Silver Fizz, a simple infusion of gin, dill and citrus; the Rum Stout, with dark rum, black tea, pandan and Porter beer; and the Soju Martini, a face-slappingly good blend of soju, sherry and pandan. Match your cocktail with bar bites that include Parmesan Tornado Fries, Mini Corn Dogs, and Char Siu Pork Neck tossed with garlic, chilli and pea shoots.
