A modern take on the Indian Ocean vacation experience, SAii Lagoon Maldives has flung open its doors as paradise’s newest playground.
For decades the Maldives was dominated by resorts that all fit a certain profile. Sure, they were, and remain, luxurious, but few stood out from the crowd, few offered a truly contemporary take on the Maldivian escape.
Attempting to break this mold is SAii Lagoon Maldives, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, and a component of Crossroads Maldives, the destination’s first integrated resort. The new hideaway is located within the idyllic Emboodhoo Lagoon, just 15 minutes by boat from the international airport, meaning you can slip in and slip out without having to rely on seaplane transfers.
Featuring 198 bright and unapologetically-contemporary rooms and villas (we prefer the overwater pool villas) dressed in natural textures and marine-inspired colours, SAii is a place where people come together rather than hide away in their room; where minds and aspirations meet; where the wine flows as smoothly as the conversation.
Consequently, sociality is at the core of the new resort, with innovative dining options including Miss Olive Oyl, a vibrant Mediterranean poolside seafood grill and bar; and Mr.Tomyam, an exciting Thai fusion eatery with an open kitchen and alfresco dining areas.
Kick your day off at bean/Co, which serves fresh coffee, premium tea and grab-and-go snacks, including healthy wraps and signature ice cream sticks, before taking to the infinity pool to work on your tan, or to the sea with the resort’s PADI-certified dive team. Then finish up under the Maldivian sun at Café del Mar, the world-famous beach club, which will bring Balearic beats, beach parties, and international DJs to the archipelago for the first time.
Time to tap into your sociable alter-ego.
