What happens when you combine ancient martial arts with the ambience of a nightclub? Enter Lights Out, Hong Kong’s newest boxing gym.
Hong Kong is no stranger to martial arts fitness. From Muay Tai to Jiu-Jitsu, the city’s fitness fanatics can try their hand at almost any martial arts. New boxing club Lights Out raises the bar and turns down the lights for would-be boxers looking to get their hearts pumping.
The fitness trend that has rippled across Australia and the US has made its way to Asia; offering a fun and powerful release from the daily grind, Lights Out offers 45-minute boxing classes set against a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system that wouldn’t be out of place in an Ibiza club. Punters can fully immerse themselves with the rhythm of specifically-picked soundtracks (cue Gonna Fly Now), that blast from the speakers – it’s like a spin class with punching.

The new Tin Hau boxing club takes the club ambiance further with visual cues projected onto the walls to keep gym junkies focused one a series of nine aqua punch bags. Boxing classes are led by one of six trainers, who provide high-intensity floor workouts laced with elements of strength and conditioning, HIIT, and AMRAP, and which gradually increase in intensity.
