If you would define yourself as ‘culinarily indecisive’ Hong Kong’s Pirata Group is set to open The Sixteenth, a collection of four exciting new eateries located at Taikoo Place’s Oxford House.
Appetites are funny things. Sure, we all have our favourite dishes and our go-to cuisines, but you never quite know what you’re going to fancy for lunch or for dinner on any given day, which means that choice suddenly becomes a real selling point.
With that in mind, Pirata Group is set to open later this month its largest-ever hospitality development, The Sixteenth, a new collection of restaurants all housed under one roof.

A Spot of Italian
Arriving guests will first encounter La Favorita, which recalls the flamboyance of Italian opera houses in the 1960s with eccentric and textured interiors reminiscent of faded, Italian grandeur, replete with graphic carpets, ornamented ledges, dramatic drapes, and bespoke lighting fixtures.
At La Favorita, the cuisine revolves around large-format Italian classics – think handmade pasta dishes such as Lobster Tagliatelle and Cheese Wheel al Tartufo, and hearty proteins such as Turbot al Cartoccio and the show-stopping Bistecca alla Fiorentina – with dishes served using oversized vessels individually hand-painted by Italian artisans.
The restaurant features a main dining room as well as two elegant private dining rooms, each with comfortable banquette seating, while the wine list takes guests on a tour of Italy’s top producing regions.

Next up is Honjokko, a more intimate riff on Pirata Group’s celebrated, contemporary Japanese restaurant, Honjo. At the Elsa Jeandedieu Studio-designed space, which has been dressed in hand-painted screens, paper umbrellas, and ostrich hide, expect sparks of global cuisine interpreted through Japanese ingredients and techniques, with Honjo fan favourites joined by an extensive sushi selection that’s unique to the new venue.
Highlights of the new menu include bold, flavourful Nigiri combinations like Hamachi Truffle and Wagyu Uni; grilled Wagyu beef, pork belly, and barramundi; and seductive desserts like the Yuzu Chocolate Fondant, which can be matched with a selection of over 30 sakes and hundreds of wines.
Open for lunch and dinner, guests can take a perch at the open sushi kitchen, on the open balcony, or make for Koshitsu, a private dining room catering to 24 guests.

Pirata Group has also opened another outlet of its TMK Funk & Rolls concept at The Sixteenth, following successful openings in Sheung Wan and Wan Chai. Guests at TMK Funk & Rolls can expect TMK’s classic and signature handrolls set against groovy interiors and a funky playlist.
Designed in reference to the recording studios of funk and soul legends like James Brown and Marvin Gaye, TMK Funk & Rolls promises the bold and playful Japanese-American cuisine that proved so successful at the original outlets. Highlights include classic handrolls and signature temakis, healthy nori bowls, and crave-worthy sushi and sashimi, while the beverage menu features classic, sparkling and sweet (umeshu) sakes, Japanese highballs, and draft beer to help guests kanpei the night away.
