So you’ve always fancied yourself as a submarine commander, delving deep under the waves in a state-of-the-art craft to explore the myriad marine life below? Well, here’s your chance.
Watersports gurus Ocean Group has teamed up with the luxurious Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru to launch DeepFlight‘s most advanced submarine model to date, the mighty Super Falcon 3S. Constructed with the same carbon fibre composites as a 787, the Super Falcon 3S is a pioneering submarine that takes up to two guests on a captivating aquatic adventure through the Baa Atoll, a Unesco Biosphere Reserve.

While you won’t be at the controls yourself – there’s a professional pilot for that – you’ll be distracted by shoals of tropical reef fish, turtles, sharks, pods of dolphins, and even manta rays as you descend to a depth of 37 meters. During the dive, your pilot will school you on the marine life and the ocean’s fragile ecosystems.
The Super Falcon 3S (which is oddly named for an animal that can’t go underwater) makes up in environmental credentials what it lacks in torpedos and depth charges; running on batteries and designed with minimal electric and acoustic emissions, the submarine ‘flies’ beneath the surface, ensuring passengers stay dry with a pressurised, air-conditioned cockpit with individual viewing domes.

And don’t worry, we know what you’re thinking: you’ve never seen a submarine film that didn’t end with some skinny guy grimacing as he listens to explosive decompression through headphones. Rest easy; in addition to being designed to gently rise to the surface in the case of power failure, the Super Falcon 3S has comprehensive life support systems and enough air and CO2 scrubbers to keep you twiddling your thumbs for 24 hours while the authorities rustle up a rescue and a trio of cold beers.
