Breitling continues its relationship with British luxury auto marque Bentley with a new limited-edition timepiece that commemorates a century of automotive excellence.
Few friendships have been as ensuring as the one between Breitling and Bentley. The companies’ love affair first began with the dash clock of the Continental GT, at a time when Bentley was reinventing itself as the pinnacle of luxury and performance. That was back in 2002 and since then the two brands have collaborated on a number of products and experiences, including 2018’s Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Bentley British Racing Green, a striking wristwatch with a distinctive British racing green dial.
At this year’s Geneva International Motor Show, while Bentley unveiled its stunning Centenary Limited Edition – Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner, Breitling introduced the Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition wristwatch, which celebrates Bentley’s 100 years of luxury motoring excellence.
Best of Both Worlds
Produced in 18-karat red gold and stainless-steel versions, some outstanding design features distinguish these limited-edition timepieces from all others. The elegant, unique brown elm burl dial, which features a white tachymeter scale on a black inner bezel, complete with a red tachymeter inscription, boasts black subdials, including a chronograph minute counter at 3 o’clock and a small-second subdial at 9 o’clock.
These contrasting subdials indicate that the watches are powered by Breitling’s flagship Manufacture Caliber 01. The in-house mechanical movement delivers an impressive power reserve of approximately 70 hours and is visible through a unique transparent
Homage to a Great Collaboration
On the left-hand side of the 42-millimeter stainless-steel case is an engraved plate inspired by the dashboard of the historic supercharged 1929 “Blower” Bentley.
The 18-karat red gold version is engraved with a “ONE OF 200” inscription, while the stainless-steel version is inscribed “ONE OF 1000”, confirmation of the edition sizes for the watches.
The Breitling Premier Bentley Centenary Limited Edition in 18-karat red gold is presented on a brown leather strap inspired by Bentley auto seats. The stainless-steel version will be available on the brown Bentley-inspired leather strap as well or on a stainless-steel bracelet.
