Jet off in pursuit of your favourite spirits with the new Origin of Spirits journeys from Fairmont and AirSprint.
Time. It’s such a precious commodity. It’s the one thing you can never have more of, no matter how much you make. So you might as well put that money to good use in the pursuit of something equally meaningful – like tequila.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has teamed up with private aviation company AirSprint to present the Origins of Spirits journeys, a series of three unique itineraries that tap into the origins of the world’s most popular spirit categories, gin, tequila and rum. On each of these adventures, you’ll travel in style aboard an Embraer Legacy 450 jet as you explore some of the world’s most coveted cocktail experience.
Kick off with the Original Rum Run package, in which you’ll jet across to sun-kissed Barbados, one of the earliest producers of rum, where you’ll check-in at a beachfront suite at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion before touring the island’s most iconic distilleries. Forget lines and gift shops – this is an exclusive behind-the-scenes-and-then-date-the-owner’s-daughter kind of experience, where you’ll meet the master blenders behind big names like Mount Gay Rum and St. Nicholas Abbey, learn to blend rums, and finish off with a private dinner set amidst a sugarcane plantation.
You’ll continue on to Bermuda, to delve behind the scenes at leading producer Gosling’s, before dreaming of white sand beaches, tiny bikinis and Dark n Stormy cocktails in your suite at the Fairmont Southampton.
If tequila is more your thing, and hey, we know where you’re coming from, then the Tequila ‘N’ Take-Off adventure might be for you. You and your five most trusted wingmen will wing off to Mexico, where you’ll rough it at Fairmont Mayakoba, where butler service and helicopter transfers are standard.
From here you’ll enjoy a tequila pairing dinner hosted by celebrity chef Richard Sandoval and presented on the El Camaleon Mayakoba Golf Course; spend a day sampling the best of Mexico’s favourite spirit on a boat trip to Cozumel, complete an onboard chef; and surrender to a tequila-infused treatment at the Willow Stream Spa. You’ll head home with reminders of your trip that include an engraved bottle of 888 Tres Ochos Tequila (one of only 1,000 made) and a silver and leather container for your Casa Dragones Tequila bottle, one of only 100.
Finally, make a beeline for Merry Old London Town on The Perfect G&T itinerary that has you checking in at a river-view suite at The Savoy, where you’ll enjoy a private gin tasting at the iconic American Bar before a three-course dinner with gin pairings at Simpson’s in the Strand. There’s also time for a gin-infused baking class at the hotel, an exclusive tour through the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Hampshire, including a gin cocktail masterclass and an in-depth botanical session with the brand’s chief horticulturist.
Of course, the Origin of Spirits adventures don’t come cheap, with the gin itinerary priced at US$225,000 for 6 pax; the tequila trip priced at US$320,000, and the Rum Run priced at US$185,000 for 8 lucky souls.
But as we said, who can really put a price on time?
