Looking for luggage that stands out from the carousel crowd? Floyd luggage line’s carry-on and check-in bags take their inspiration from one of the West Coast’s most iconic beachfronts.
Let’s take you back to the early 1970s in Los Angeles. Back then Venice Beach wasn’t the trendy precinct it is today. However, Venice Beach, with its low-cost housing and transient persona, was the heart of the city’s surf and skate scene. It always seemed to be summer in California during the 1970s and when Cadillac Wheels introduced its range of eye-catching polyurethane skateboard wheels in 1973, they were quickly adopted by every ‘dogtown boy’ and wave riding renegade on the beach.
The Cali surf and skate culture also inspired German teens Bernd Georgi and Horst Kern and while they never made it to Cali, they have combined German precision with the best of the long summer vibe in their range of Floyd luggage.
The collection features both understated 61-litre check-in and carry-on pieces, all in retro hues that include ‘Tarmac’ grey, and ‘Sunset’ orange to gold, ‘Magic Purple’ and ‘Pacific Blue’.
Constructed in durable 100 percent Makrolon polycarbonate produced by Covestro, each case comes with the same iconic polyurethane wheels that transformed skating, in a variety of colours (although we think classic red works pretty well).
Internal screens help packing oganisation while super-durable and expandable aluminium handles make carrying a breeze, whether you’re racing through a busy airport or hitting the beach in search of undiscovered breaks.
