Gents, take note – there’s a new steakhouse in town and it’s sure to please the carnivore within. Perched atop Victoria Peak, the Hong Kong outpost of 37 Steakhouse & Bar joins other new openings in the area and boasts the same elevated steak experience and spectacular views as the brand’s locations in Tokyo and Shanghai.
Old School, New Thinking
An unashamedly lavish dining experience, the new restaurant seats 115 guests in an elegant 7,000sqft space created by award-winning Japanese designer Yasumichi Morita. Expect plenty of oak, brass, cowhide, grand wood chandeliers, maple-toned furniture and coffee-coloured floors. Not impressive enough? How about the addition of a curated art collection that includes two standalone pieces by Brazilian artist Mozart Guerra?
Coveted Cuts of Japanese Beef
For its menu, 37 Steakhouse & Bar takes its cues from the traditional steakhouses of old then modernises it, creating a refined culinary experience with only the finest meat and seafood. Japanese butcher and meat supplier Hiyama will provide its signature Hiyama Kuroge Wagyu Beef, which is known for its fine grain and marbling. This coveted beef is only available at the other new openings by The Food Story hospitality group.
You’ll be spoilt for choice, though, as the meat list also includes U.S.D.A. Prime Black Angus, Australian Rangers Valley Cross-bred Wagyu, Australian Black Angus and cuts ranging from flat iron and striploin to tomahawk and bone-in ribeye.
Even if beef’s not your thing, you’ll find plenty of other dishes to try. There’s French spring chicken; Australian lamb chops, whole lobster; and a host of traditional starters like oysters, hand-cut steak tartare, and a signature chopped salad. You’ll probably want to pair them with some of the decadent sides – think mac and cheese and mashed potatoes.
A Supreme Sake Selection
If the hotspot’s name didn’t clue you in, allow us – drinks are definitely available here. In fact, situated at the entrance of 37 Steakhouse & Bar is an intimate sake bar stocked with the full range of Sawaya Matsumoto sakes. Of course, there’ll also be a solid wine list, so you’re sure to find a great red to pair with your steak.
