Drawing from the rarest and most precious stocks of the distillery, The Singleton of Glen Ord 41 Year Old arrives in Asia.
When we think of whisky, we’re used to seeing numbers like 12, 15, 18, and, if we’re lucky, 21. It takes a lot of patience to leave a whisky for decades, and aficionados say anything longer than 50 years and you start to lose the influence of the oak on the spirit anyway. So a whisky that’s patiently waited over 40 years to reveal itself is truly worthy of our attention.
The first of the Forgotten Drop Series, The Singleton of Glen Ord 41 Year Old whisky represents the oldest liquid the Highlands distillery has released since it was founded 180 years ago.
Matured at the Glen Ord Distillery, and bottled in 2017 at a cask strength of 49.9% ABV to help reveal its complex character, this breathtaking release is limited to just 600 bottles, so you better get in quickly if you’re looking for a truly remarkable dram to add to your collection.
this truly exquisite whisky is the creation of Master of Malts Maureen Robinson, who selected old, predominantly refill American oak casks (in a departure from the distilleries usual European oak ex-sherry casks) that showcased the signature rich and balanced distillery character, but offered something entirely unique and exceptional.
The result is an outstanding and rare expression with incredible depth, and a price tag just south of US$3,000.
