Championz Gin, the newest release from New Zealand’s Golden Bay Distillery, not only captures the essence of the global craft gin movement but also supports sports clubs building the next generation of champions.
There are more gins out there then there are shelves to put them on – which is great if you like exploring this eclectic and intriguing category (which we certainly do). Following the success of its Jiu Jiu Vodka, Golden Bay Distillery, a tiny operation in a remote corner of New Zealand’s South Island, has released a sports-themed gin (it’s New Zealand after all) that not only tastes great but also does its part to support charity Laureus, which uses sports to transform the lives of young people.
This hand-crafted, preservative-free, and now award-winning spirit is produced by distiller Sue Bensemannhas using water from deep beneath the Southern Alps. A classic dry gin, Championz is laced with hand-picked botanicals, including juniper, peppercorn, cardamom, almonds, coriander, angelica, and licorice, ensuring the perfect platform from which to mix up classic gin cocktails, from the Aviation and the Martini, to the humble G&T.

The new double-distilled gin packs plenty of flavour punch, with a smooth, silky mouthfeel, touches of sweetness, and a clean, dry finish that will have you reaching for the tonic water and another round.
Shall we see if the game’s on?
