Japanese whisky gurus Suntory has released The Chita, a brand new single grain whisky that reflects the misty, calm seas of the Chita Peninsula, near Nagoya.
Who doesn’t love the sea? Sure, you might get seasick on the Macau ferry or sailing off Phuket but there’s no denying the majesty of the great oceans. The same forces have inspired a new release for Japanese whisky giant with The Chita, a single grain spirit that’s light and elegant and perfectly suited for Asia’s balmy summers.
Mild enough for those easing their way into the world of Japanese whisky, yet complex enough to be engaging and intriguing, this new dram is the creation of chief blender Shinji Fukuyo, who aged his grain whisky in wine, Spanish oak and American white oak barrels to create a spirit that’s delicate, with a clean, bright finish that lingers.
Carefully distilled at Chita distillery, and ideally suited for premium whisky cocktails as well as neat, The Chita single grain whisky features a bright gold hue, with touches of mint and honey as well as mango and orange blossom on the palate and subtle bittersweet chocolate notes with touches of citrus on the finish.
