Tequila producer Tres Generaciones has released its 50th Anniversary Añejo, the third bottle in the brand’s Legacy Edition Series of tequilas.
Who doesn’t like it when spirits producers take a step back from all the innovation and return to their passions, their philosophies and their original recipes? Sure. we’re all for evolution and change but as some companies grow they can tend to lose sight of the things that made them great in the first place, then things that made them great to us. Fortunately, there’s nothing like a birthday to make your reflect on what’s past and what’s ahead, and to remind you of why you do what you do.
Tres Generaciones’ new 50th anniversary Añejo has been crafted in strict adherence to Don Francisco Javier Sauza’s original recipe (which is rumoured to be that of the first Añejo tequila ever made), which he devised half a century ago to celebrate three generations of distilling at La Perseverancia distillery.
The 50th Anniversary Edition marks the brand’s prestige tequila debut and starts with 100% Blue Weber Agave, which is slow roasted in masonry ovens, tahona crushed, double distilled in copper pot stills, and then patiently aged fourteen months in American White Oak barrels that have been specially selected and treated with an in-house charring process.

The result is a deep amber 45% ABV Añejo that is ultra-smooth with warmth and slight smokiness in each sip. You’ll find aromas of cooked agave and charred wood, giving a slight smoky note; with sweet vanilla, caramel, apples and almonds on the palate and a long, smooth finish that makes it perfect for sipping sessions.
