If you’re as interested in the heavens as you are with the wildlife on your next adventure to Africa, check out the new stargazing tents at Asilia Africa’s acclaimed Olakira Migration Camp.
The tented camp, which follows the flow of the Serengeti’s great migration, moving from north to south during the year, was recently reimagined, with a captivating new under-the-stars experience added. The new stargazing tents have been designed so that a portion of each boasts a 270-degree view from beneath a meshed net, offering guests an outdoor experience whilst still remaining safely ‘indoors’. Guests can opt to have their beds moved from the main bedroom to this custom-designed, mosquito net canopy, allowing them to drift off to sleep under countless constellations.
Olakira’s nine guest tents sit in a secluded spot just 300m from the great Mara River, where herds of wildebeest plunge into the water – often to the waiting jaws of the resident Nile crocodile – on their great journey north to Kenya.
After a celestial sleep, guests can spend their days on traditional game drives or take to the skies and see the Serengeti and wildebeest migration from the air on dawn hot-air balloon safaris.
And you thought the wild things were between the sheets.
