Electric skateboards are taking off like wildfire as an urban transport option; they’re fast, fun and can fit pretty easily under your desk at work. To many, however, it might seem that the technology behind these sidewalk-wanderers has peaked, with many models offering the same speed capability and only vary in aesthetic design.
That is until the complete and utter madmen at Baja Boards released their beautiful monstrosity: The Pantera.
With a top speed of 72km/h (stemming from a 10.7 horsepower battery), you’ll really need a brass pair to handle this super-car of the skateboard industry. It’s so fast, in fact, that the speed tests were conducted on a bloody airfield runway, and even then the developers were too scared to try for top speed with a human test-bunny.
While it’s always a laugh to blast this board at full throttle, the substantial power of the Pantera also has a more practical benefit: hill climbing. Imagine the speed and thrills of snowboarding, but instead of plummeting down a mountain trail you’ll be soaring up them.
Apart from a need for speed, this matte black widow-maker is equipped with adjustable suspension, black anodized alloy rims, custom head and tail lights and a 10S battery configuration with 1,100Wh capacity. The battery gives it a decent range – riders can expect to travel at least 45km on a single charge. Not bad for a board that only weighs 26kg.
So for any of you daredevils out there, or just those with a death wish, contact Baja Boards at your own risk.
