Omega celebrates the rise to glory of Irish golfer Rory McIlroy with a truly spectacular take on its iconic Speedmaster ’57.
There’s little doubt that golfer Rory McIlroy’s rise to the ranks of the world’s greatest players has breathed new life into the great game. One of just three players to win four majors by the time he turned 25 (sharing that status with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus) McIlroy reached the world number one spot and held it for 100 weeks, so mean feat for someone so young.

Celebrating his success, the Omega Speedmaster ’57 Rory McIlroy Special Edition in yellow gold is an eye-catching chronograph no matter what your handicap is. Subtle design additions tell the tale of the young golfer from Northern Ireland, including his course record of 61, shot at the Royal Portrush Golf Club when he was just 16. If that wasn’t a telling moment of what was to be we’ll never know.
Inspired by Omega’s original Speedmaster from 1957, the limited-edition timepiece features a mesmerising sun-brushed champagne dial in PVD yellow gold with a blackened outer zone and minute track transferred in yellow gold colour. There is also a date window at the 6 o’clock position.

The unique subdials include a small-seconds counter at 9 o’clock and a 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph recorder at 3 o’clock. When exposed to a UV light, the subdials also reveal the numbers 16 and 61, a tribute to that ground-breaking round. The brushed bezel, with its tachymeter scale, is mounted on a 41.50 mm 18K yellow gold case, which is presented on a matching bracelet. The new timepiece is powered by an Omega Co-Axial calibre 9301.
