Sure, there are hand gestures and mouths silently speaking threats but to really tell road ragers what you think of them you’ll need a very special emoji.
Driving can be frustrating anywhere in the world, but especially in Asia, where road rules seem to be taken as suggestions, where drivers tend to dither with indecision, and where road rage can cloud judgement. If only there was a way that we could communicate our concern, our needs or our displeasure to our fellow travellers. Fortunately, heading this call, you’ll soon be able to send your thoughts out onto the road through a selection of creative emoji messages.
Innovart, creators of CarWink, want to break down some of the communication barriers on the world’s roads. The new auto gadget, which recently reached its crowdfunding target, uses voice commands to flash a desired emoji to other drivers, thanking them, warning them of hazards ahead, requesting they slow down, or even asking for help.
The system currently boasts 20 emojis, with an additional 15 in the works, making CarWink a rather expressive alternative to stepping out into traffic with a trusty baseball bat.
Innovart plan to start shipping in the coming months.
