The new Rimowa eyewear collection features bold yet timeless designs inspired by the world of aviation.
So, you’ll trust Rimowa, the German luggage gurus, with your most prized travel possessions, but does that faith extend to your face? The company known best for its near-indestructible metallic ribbed suitcases has now unveiled its first eyewear collection.
Just like Rimowa took inspiration from the fuselages of early aircraft to create its now-iconic aluminium cases, the company has once again tapped the aviation industry for design cues, in this case, pilot essentials and accessories. Featuring ultra-lightweight frames and the classic lines of pilot shades past, including the Pilot, Square and Pantos, the new Rimowa eyewear collection features two models in a range of colours, each crafted to match select luggage pieces.
The collection’s debut unisex models – Bridge, Rim and Air, the latter available as prescription shades – are each punctuated by signature details, including grooves, monograms and rivets. While Bridge models feature a sleek silhouette and visible pins that hark to the aviation industry, the Rim models offer a minimal facade and hand-applied acetate on the lenses to create a more striking profile.
As if you needed another excuse to book a flight.
