Regent Phu Quoc will lift the post-covid luxury benchmark on one of Vietnam’s most popular island hideaways.
One of the most rapidly developing travel destinations in Asia in the pre-Covid period, Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island boomed when the Vietnamese government began granting visa-free stays of up to 30 days. Phu Quoc (which is actually made up of 17 islands) didn’t disappoint, with stunning natural beauty, protected ecosystems, and a laid-back ambiance that was a far cry from the mainland. Now, if you haven’t visited yet, you’ll have another excuse, with the opening later of this year of the luxurious Regent Phu Quoc in the main island’s southwest.

Located just 15 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport, the new resort’s spectacular 176 suites and 126 villas, created by the Blink Design group, are set against the serene waterfront backdrop of Long Beach. Accommodation ranges from one-bedroom havens to expansive seven-bedroom ultra-villas, including beach pool villas with direct access to the pristine white beach, sky pool villas situated high in the Sky Wing boasting breathtaking ocean views, and lagoon pool villas that overlook the striking vista of the resort’s lagoons.
Across each space, Blink has preserved Vietnamese culture and heritage, employing modern interpretations of traditional Vietnamese roofs as well as traditional wooden truss systems known as Bovi. Guests will also enjoy villas with courtyards inspired by similar spaces found in Vietnamese homes, known as Gian Nha.
If you can drag yourself from your spacious suite or villa, you’ll be rewarded with great dining at the resort’s six restaurants, which include Oku, an elegant Franco-Japanese salon de boeuf; and Ocean Club, a Mediterranean-inspired beachfront eatery – as well as sunset cocktails at Fu Bar, an exclusive sky pool terrace; and contemporary wellness treatments at The Spa at Regent Phu Quoc, home to bespoke wellness programmes, yoga pavilions, and a comprehensive health club.
You may not be the first visitor to Phu Quoc but you might be the most spoiled.
