Proper Hotel San Francisco has opened in the heart of this bustling US city, offering access to the gourmet dining and eclectic neighbourhoods of the Bay Area.
Few destinations have the eclectic allure of San Francisco. With its rich heritage, it’s distinctly left-lean, and its access to some of the west coast’s most beautiful locales, it’s a destination that’s always evolving and one that’s certainly worth more than one visit.
The Kelly Wearstler-designed Proper Hotel San Francisco has opened in the city’s Mid-Market neighbourhood, complete with luxurious rooms, restaurant concepts by acclaimed chef Jason Franey and cocktails by BVHospitality’s Josh Harris and Morgan Schick.
Housed in a beloved flatiron hotel building on the corner of 7th and Market, the new Proper Hotel is the city’s first boutique hotel to open in over a decade and boasts 131 blissfully-residential guestrooms, each with Aesop bath products, Vifa speakers, Aireloom mattresses, and Bellino fine linens.
While some rooms have bunk beds, if you’re into that, we prefer one of the Premier Suites, which occupy the “point” on each floor of the hotel’s historic building, commanding a coveted, panoramic view of the city from each suite’s spacious living area. These luxurious, modern pied-a-terres are outfitted with mid-century European-inspired furnishings, with separate areas for sleeping, dining and lounging.
Be sure to leave time for drinks at the hotel’s Viennese Secession art movement-inspired rooftop lounge; a bite at the four dining outlets managed by James Beard-nominated executive chef Jason Franey; or a chance to explore the city with complimentary Shinola bicycles.
