Nike’s new Gyakusou Collection helps runners tackle the warm weather of the summer months.
Wave goodbye to crisp mornings and welcome the humidity, flash rains and steamy streets of summer in Asia. Fortunately, if you’re an active lad, the new collection from Undercover founder Jun Takahashi and Nike has you covered. Made with a new mix of fabrics that breath better than you during sprints, the new collection features shorts, a tank top and two types of jackets.

No matter what you wear underneath, the radical Gyakusou Hooded Jacket, which converts from a sleeved covering to a breathable vest on the fly, is an essential for joggers hitting the hot pavement. The jacket’s sleeves and hood are combined as a single, removable element that’s attached by a zipper at the neck, which means it can be swiftly detached and easily packed while on the move. A waterproof, three-layer fabric construction ensures rain won’t dampen a training run; in fact, the graphic pattern on the jacket’s vest was determined after using body maps to find out where rain strikes the torso.
If you’re looking for something even lighter, the Nike Gyakusou Short Sleeve Packable Jacket is a street-savvy hooded pullover that features shorter sleeves and a half-zip entry. Though lightweight, the material offers protection from both wind and water while elastic around the hood, waist and cuffs helps keep things in place. Mesh inserts at the underarms and back vent heat and keep air moving, while zippered pockets keep essentials secure. Reflective graphics help to keep you visible in dark or dreary weather.
The Nike Gyakusou Dri-Fit Tank is made from Dri-FIT fabric that wicks moisture away from the body. Perforation, placed in all the right spots thanks to data from body maps, also helps to disperse heat and moisture, while the tank’s glow-in-the-dark, reflective graphics keep you as visible as a road flare.

Match the tank with the Nike Gyakusou Shorts, which have been constructed with a high-stretch Dri-FIT compression layer that sits below woven outer shorts to give runners support and coverage. The breathable centre gusset vents hot air while the shorts can be adjusted via the internal drawcord. Rear pockets have various closures for simple storage. And of course, there are reflective graphics.
