The creative souls behind Hong Kong’s Lab Eat Restaurant & Bar have created Lab Eat Bistro, an entertaining new dining destination in Mongkok.
We tend to think of Mongkok, Hong Kong’s urbane spiritual heartland, as a destination for eclectic culture, for discount shopping, and for dining experiences that are more about convenience and value than innovation and creativity. However, that might all change with the arrival of La Eat Bistro, a new fusion eatery located in the Mong Kok Centre.

Designed as a fun and inventive dining experience, the three-leveled Lab Eat Bistro boasts a ground floor cafe serving coffee, chilled beverages, and grab-n-go style snacks, while the industrial-esque dining spaces above showcase a menu of accessible and creative dishes that include homemade pastries and bread.

Dishes to look out for include a classic beef burger in a charcoal bun; deep-fried Spam with scrambled egg and truffle, a luxurious and innovative take on a Hong Kong classic; baked chicken with black truffle and rice; braised beef cheek with Chinese sweet vinegar sauce and mashed potato; and bottom sirloin flap steaks, available with a choice of sauces including porcini mushroom, cola teriyaki, black pepper sauce, and garlic.

For those with a sweet tooth, try the Black & White French Toast with ice cream and macaroon; or the hot chocolate brownie with chocolate caramel sauce.

Yes, it sounds a little like a fancy cha cheng tang but this is Mongkok so embrace the crowds, seek out the bargains, and come with an appetite.
