Hublot has added four striking new timepieces to its MP-09 “Manufacture Piece” collection.
With the adoption of bold new materials, contemporary watchmakers are increasingly creating timepieces that are not just superb complications but which also pop with colour, adding a flair to your own personal style. A perfect example is the four new editions of Hublot’s MP-09 series, presented in blue, red, yellow, and green and limited to just eight pieces each.
Presented in carbon, each new MP-09 timepiece is a fusion of technology and aesthetics. The challenge presented to the manufacturer’s engineers was to create a case with a totally unique shape, all made from curves and corners on two different planes, to present the timepiece’s Tourbillon Bi-Axis in a singular way.
After three initial versions in titanium, King Gold, and black 3D carbon, Hublot continues the adventure of the MP-09 with four new versions, each in a 3D carbon case. This is no easy feat; machining a case made from a multi-layer composite, such as carbon, is nothing like machining a case made from titanium or gold, which are homogeneous metals. However, carbon offers the new MP-09 a significant weight saving, which ensuring its watertight integrity.
The four radically different approaches boast solution-dyed 3D carbon cases that have matching structured rubber straps, hands and hour markers. Sporty, stealthy or flashy, there is one for every watchlover’s taste, and within beats the HUB9009.H1.RA manual-winding, mechanical calibre movement with a five-day power reserve.
The movement is equipped with a bi-axial tourbillon with a full rotation every minute for the first axis and a second rotation every 30 seconds for the second axis. It is this hypnotic and unique double rotation that guided the conception of the new models’ inclined cases, which show the tourbillon at 6 o’clock as part of a new colour, 3D carbon architecture, with the middle and back cover in titanium and double anti-reflective sapphire glass.
