Samsung has extended its wearables portfolio with the Gear S3 smartwatch, which combines timeless design with the latest mobile technology.
Samsung loves its wearables. The Korean brand has been big on the smartwatch scene since the very beginning, and its newest addition, the Gear S3, brings even more computing power to bare, as well as the addition of including LTE and Bluetooth connectivity, mobile payments, IP68 water resistance, and built-in GPS.
Available in two bold designs – the Gear S3 Frontier (with its sportier design and rugged silicone strap) and Gear S3 Classic (pictured) – the new smartwatches feature a bright Super AMOLED screen, centred on a 46mm dial, meaning you’ll need to have relatively manly wrists to pull these babies off.
Both are powered by Samsung’s own Tizen for Gear software (despite the brand being the world’s largest producer of Android-operated phones) and can offer accurate fitness activity monitoring using GPS while alti/barometer and speedometer features track everything from distance travelled to sudden changes in the weather. A companion app is packed with free and paid features to replace the stock-standard faces that come pre-installed.
A built-in speaker activates voice messaging and offers music on the go while writing on the display converts handwriting to text messages and emojis. Water and dust resistant, the Gear S3 features Corning Gorilla glass specifically designed for wearable devices.
