Hong Kong’s Cali-cool eatery Big Sur presents an innovative, one-day-only Eat Better Barbecue Day & Night Brunch that you just can’t miss.
Barbecue is the kind of thing that starts wars. Ok, maybe not wars but certainly bar fights, heated arguments, and cases of well-intentioned insurrection. Everyone has their preference, their favourite flavours, their secret recipes, and cooking methods, from pulled pork in San Pedro to beef ribs in Kansas City. However, at the end of the day, barbecue is about sitting down with hand-selected souls, eating traditional dishes, and chewing the metaphorical fat over a few cold libations.

For one magnificent day only, Soho’s ode to the Golden State, Big Sur, will present the Eat Better Barbecue Day & Night Brunch, a sun-kissed (fingers crossed) culinary orgy of great Cali-Mex styled fare washed down with some of the city’s best craft beers.

Famed for its outdoor seating (and people watching) this laid back eatery will become BBQ central on October 3; with options for day (2 pm – 4.30 pm) and evening (7 pm – 9.30 pm), the brunch includes a range of starters, including Southern Cali-style nachos, grilled octopus skewers, Mexican-style charred street corn on the cob, Salchipapas, and Buffalo smoked chicken wings.

You’ll then be able to rally the troops, unbuckle the belts, and feast on succulent, sticky, pork ribs so good they’ll leave you sucking your thumb and wishing for momma. The ribs also come with traditional sides, house-made slaw and sweet potato fries.
Finish off with nostalgic Rocky Road, and don’t be shy to opt for the free-flow package, which includes Tommy’s Margaritas, gin and tonics on tap, house wines, and a great selection of craft beers from local gurus Young Master.

The Eat Better Barbecue Day & Night Brunch is priced at HK$358 per person, with HK$198 for the two-hour free-flow drinks package but be sure to book soon as social distancing means seats will be snapped up quicker than you can say “my baby loves barbecue sauce”.
