Contemporary Spanish tapas restaurant Chueca brings a touch of Madrid to the heart of Noho.
You’ve got to love tapas. Any culinary tradition that allows you to eat and drink in equal measure, that’s available through the day and into the wee hours, and which is big on flavour and light on formality is something we can certainly get behind. Set to join the city’s tapas ranks, a new Gough Street contender hopes to revitalise the city’s perceptions on timeless pintxo dishes.

Opening October 30, Chueca, a new modern Spanish tapas restaurant, takes its name from Madrid’s city centre, a precinct famed for joints specialising in tapas – or pintxo – and sets the culinary musings of Barcelona-native chef Jordi Vallés against striking blue interiors by Yuki Yasukagawa. Featuring a long communal counter in marble and furnishings in aquamarine, the new venue offers a range of Spanish nibbles, ranging from simple yet timeless charcuterie to heartier classics like Croquetas De Jamón and Lobster Rice.
Other highlights of the menu include Chef’s Rusa, a delicate potato and run salad with sherry-marinated salmon roe; Chef’s Canelón, fork-tender truffled meat wrapped with pasta and dressed with a hot porcini mushroom bechamel sauce.

A satisfying brunch option includes a fresh seafood platter packed with Fine de Claire oysters, Boston lobster, tiger prawns, and chilled tuna tartare with avocado, a choice of a main and a selection of tapas, and a free-flow option that will guarantee an afternoon siesta afterwards.
Seal the deal with Spanish-themed cocktails like the Chueca Gin Tonic, with fresh strawberries; or the Strawberry Basil Smash and summer will linger just a little longer.
