Looking for the right tipple with which to farewell the warm months and welcome in the winter? You might want to reach for the Chairman’s Reserve.
Rum, in our humble opinion, is the answer to many of life’s little dilemmas and one new spirit is sure to send tongues wagging this winter. Award-winning Saint Lucia Distillers, the sole distillery on the Caribbean’s idyllic Saint Lucia, has created Celebrating our Caribbean Passions, a special Chairman’s Reserve collector’s edition that marries the brilliant art of Llewelyn Xavier with the finest St Lucian rum.
Chairman’s Reserve rum has regularly made the world’s best rum lists since it was first unveiled in 1999. The new handcrafted, limited edition blend, which was personally selected by the then chairman Laurie Barnard, is a combination of distilled pot and column still rums. The result features a dark brown amber colour, the richness on the nose that’s inherent in pot still spirits, and touches of sweet honeyed fruit and spicy vanilla from the oak that makes it a great sipping rum.

But the new rum release is more than just a great spirit. The distillery worked with Llewelyn Xavier OBE, a Saint Lucia-born artist whose work is being held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution, New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Victoria & Albert Museum, London, to create an eye-catching bottle you’ll probably want to hang on to.
A multi-media artist, environmentalist, and president and founder of the Saint Lucia Sculpture Park Foundation, Xavier is seen as Saint Lucia’s pre-eminent visual artist and is best known for his oil paintings, which are inspired by the Caribbean and its environment.
The special edition bottle of Chairman’s Reserve rum, celebrating Saint Lucia’s tradition and passion for the arts, is wrapped in a work by Xavier called Celebrating our Caribbean Passions, which reflects Xavier’s colourful vibrant works reflect the brightness and vitality of his native homeland.
