All this stormy weather left you with a hankering for good beer and Belgian comfort food? You’re in luck, as Frites has opened new locations in Hong Kong’s North Point and Kwun Tong.
There’s beer and then there’s Belgian beer. Now you might not know this, but beer is the third most popular beverage in the world after water and tea, and beer has been made in Belgium long before it became the country we know today. The pint-sized (get it?) country is best known for its Trappist beers – dark and sweet brews made to keep monks merry and which today must be made by or in collaboration with a monastery – and Abbey beers, which emulate the Trappist style without the conditions.
You’ll be able to get your fill of both at Frites North Point and Kwun Tong, two new branches that bring the brand’s Hong Kong outlets to six.
Frites North Point is located at new commercial development Harbour East, while the new Kwun Tong branch, Frites’ first-ever foray into Kowloon, is located in a complex called The Quayside. Both venues cater to 100 punters a piece and maintain the brewhouse’s signature ethos of bringing the masses together over hearty fare and good beer.
In addition to a staggering selection of beers, look out for European-influenced menus consisting of authentic favourites such as Frites, Mussel Pots and Roasted Pork Knuckle.
Just be sure to raise a glass to those visionary monks.
