Just in time for your winter season shenanigans, GoPro has released new versions of its Hero 8 Black and 360-degree action cameras.
It seems that today, if you don’t film it on your phone, an action camera or…gasp…an SLR, it simply didn’t happen. Fortunately, tech has kept pace with our expectations and the gurus who started this revolution have upped the ante with new additions to their line up.
So what’s new? Well, the GoPro Hero 8 Black has a new body design that sees the brand’s signature mounting system now integrated into the case, which means you won’t need a ton of fiddly little adapters to use the action cam on suction mounts and the like. The camera also benefits from the addition of HyperSmooth 2.0, the company’s second-generation stabilization tech, which makes filming smooth clips in 1080p or 4K easy as the proverbial pie.
The brand’s TimeWarp tech, which allows for variable speed recording, has also been updated, as has the mic, which was previously a little too sensitive to wind.
Of course, if you want to take your filmmaking to the next level, you’ll be reaching for the new ‘Mods’, attachments that include a built-in shotgun mic, a flip-up LCD viewfinder, and a 200 lumen LED light. It’s like building your own transformer.
If you prefer to capture your video in 360-degree, there’s also news for you. The GoPro Max, the successor to the GoPro Fusion, offers both single lens and 360-degree capture capacity, making it a flexible option for both adrenalin junkies and v-loggers. The camera also benefits from Max HyperSmooth, a stabilization software on steroids.
Go forth and film.
