If you fancy a cheeky weekend away to Asia’s own sin city, the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok has opened at the heart of the Thai capital.
There’s something strangely liberating about Bangkok (for those who don’t live there at least). The city is so eclectic, so vibrant and blissfully unpretentious that it remains one of Asia’s favourite weekend escape destinations. Now, with the opening of the city’s newest luxury hotel, you have another excuse for at least one night in Bangkok (you know we had to squeeze it in somewhere).
Located steps from the Erawan Shrine and the luxurious Gaysorn Village mall, the new Waldorf Astoria is the creation of award-winning architect André Fu and his design studio AFSO, which has created a unique experience that unites the building’s contemporary architecture with Thai artisanal tradition.
At the new Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, you’ll be able to choose from 171 spacious, residential-style guest rooms and suites, each of which features expansive picture windows, luxurious linens, spa-inspired bathrooms with marble bathtubs, and captivating views from the 60th floor.
For when you’ve done soaking in that tub or taking in the vistas, head to the hotel’s top three floors, where the new hotel’s distinctive dining outlets, designed by AvroKO, include Bull & Bear, home to grilled meats and seafood and Art Deco-inspired interiors; The Loft, a New York-inspired cocktail bar that does a mean martini; and The Champagne Bar, an intimate and inspirational environment that’s home to an exquisite list of fine champagnes, hand-crafted cocktails, and some of the best views of Bangkok.
No matter what you get up to in the City of Angels, be sure to leave time for a massage at the intimate Waldorf Astoria Spa or for laps in the outdoor infinity pool.
