Established railophiles and train virgins alike will love The Vietage, Vietnam’s first luxury train, which has started plying the rails through South Central Vietnam from the seaside resort town of Da Nang to postcard-perfect Quy Nhon.
Developed by hotel and resort gurus Anantara, a company that knows a thing or two about luxury travel, The Vietage links the Anantara properties in Hoi An And Quy Nhon with a single, custom-designed reservation-only carriage that caters to just 12 lucky souls.
Forget sweaty backpackers; this is a new era of glamourous travel for one of Asia’s most sought-after destinations. Think sleek, modern interiors, large picture windows, and super-plush seating – that is if you can pry yourself from your perch at the carriage’s sit-up bar, where local craft beers and wines are the specialty.

During the six-hour journey, you’ll also have the chance to fine on an exclusively curated menu that taps into the region’s rich history and cultural influences, with dishes ranging from braised Wagyu to Quy Nhon seafood salad, laced with locally-sourced ingredients like Da Lat strawberries, Dong Nai chocolate, and, if you’re feeling decadent, locally-produced caviar.
If all this good living is a little much, you can reset in one of the spa treatment chairs and watch serene villages and rural landscapes pass by as you’re kneaded into serenity.
