Just when you thought Bangkok couldn’t get any cooler as the ultimate weekend away destination, The StandardX Bangkok Phra Arthit arrives.
Proudly defying convention (this is Bangkok after all), the new hotel – the younger sibling of The Standard brand which already has an outpost in the Thai capital – features minimalist rooms by the hotel’s in-house team and Studio Freehand with insight from Porntip “Mook” Attakanwong of ATT19, paired with enticing cultural programming, unpretentious, intuitive hospitality and a location packed with hidden arts, fashion and music gems.
Nestled in Bangkok’s old town near the riverside and Silapakorn University, the city’s most prominent institution for the arts, The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit dives into the very spirit of this artistic enclave by housing 10 10 Art Gallery, which showcases both temporary and permanent exhibitions by local artists with international recognition.

The venue’s initial exhibition is from artists Gongkan and MRKREME, who decorated the hotel’s streetside and riverfront façades with their signature style and eye-catching hues. In addition, the property will introduce an artist-in-residence program, serving as an incubator for emerging talent.
With all that inspiration you’re bound to build up an appetite, which can be sated at Bang, an all-day Thai restaurant located on the ground floor, where local ingredients bring a bold perspective to beloved traditional Thai dishes; and The Box, a sleek retail concept that specialises in everyday essentials, snacks, beverages, and local goods the coffee, supplied by growers in Nan Province, promises to be sublime.
The coffee is a standout feature, as The StandardX, Bangkok Phra Arthit has partnered with growers in Pua District, Nan Province to cultivate exceptional, sustainable varieties. This collaboration also creates job opportunities and provides stable income for the younger generation. Finally, perched on the sixth floor, The Roof nods to the melodic flavours of Mexico amidst views of Chao Phraya with a cosy pool for beating the Bangkok heat.
