If you’re looking to explore up-and-coming Tseung Kwan O, the arrival of The Pizza Pig just might be the perfect rationale.
If you haven’t been down to Tseung Kwan O in a while, you’re missing out. The once sleepy housing area in eastern Kowloon is presently undergoing a renaissance, with new restaurants, cafes, and arts spaces breathing life into the harbourfront precinct.
One of those newcomers is The Pizza Pig, a stone fire oven joint brought to you by the creative souls of Shore Hospitality, the brand behind The Salted Pig, Cull N Pistol, The Blind Pig (you see a theme here), and the late Hunter and The Chase in Central.
At the new eatery, Scandinavian group executive chef Jaakko Sorsa will be heating things up, producing thin crust, rectangular pizza (can you believe 30 inches long and 9 wide?) with a stone pizza oven. These range from the hot and cold home-smoked salmon pizza with sour cream, tarragon, red onion, and crumbled feta; to the signature Piggy Pizza, with pork knuckle, Italian sausage, chorizo, cotto ham, grilled bell pepper, red onion, Mozzarella, and tomato sauce.
In addition, The Pizza Pig will offer a full menu of delicious pastas, appetizers, and mains, many, like the crispy pork knuckle with roasted root vegetables; and sauteed octopus with chorizo, laced with the restaurant’s namesake piggy.
Think of it as swine for the season.
