Jaguar races to the front of the electric car revolution with the new 2019 Jaguar I-PACE, the marque’s first all-electric model.
While hybrid has become the new go-to word for the auto industry, few luxury players have gone all the way electric, until now. Jaguar’s new 2019 I-PACE delivers sports car performance, next-generation artificial intelligence technology, the practicality of an SUV, and the sustainable DNA of an all-electric power system.
At the core of the new model is a state-of-the-art 90kWh lithium-ion battery, which promises a range of 470km and an 80
These performance specs are achieved thanks to a lighter yet stiffer aluminium architecture that sees the battery placed between the two axles, as low down as possible, to ensure perfect weight distribution and agility. From the outside, the mid-sized I-PACE SUV resembles a coupe, with design influences from the Jaguar C-X75 supercar matched with an aero-enhanced roof design, low bonnet and curved rear screen.
The innovation continues in the interior, where the racing pedigree gives way to ample space for five adults and luggage. The new Tech Pro Duo infotainment system uses a combination of touchscreens, capacitive sensors and tactile physical controls to offer both driver and passengers a raft of information and functions – which is updated regularly over wifi – at their fingertips. A new EV navigation system assesses topography and insights from previous journeys to determine range and charging status, while SmartSettings driven by AI algorithms identify individual driver preferences and tailor the driving and interior settings accordingly.
