As Asia slips into shorts and a polo in preparation for the balmy summer ahead, we won’t blame you if your thoughts stray towards the region’s top golf courses. After more than a year of lockdowns, restrictions and general pandemonium, we’re sure there’s nothing you’d like more than to get out on the links and enjoy the sense of freedom that comes with the great game – especially if you’re sporting a set of new clubs to celebrate the post-Covid era around the corner.

Fortunately, TaylorMade Golf has just created such a set with the arrival of the all-new P790 Black, a stunning new irons lineup made with hollow body construction and Thru-Slot Speed Pockets in a bold black PVD finish.
These stylish new golf essentials combine plenty of powerful performance into a classic, clean design, one that’s aggressive when called upon, and forgiving when required. With the P790 irons, TaylorMade’s engineers have answered the challenge of creating a forged iron that delivers remarkable distance as well as enhanced playability and feel.

At the heart of the new design is the brand’s SpeedFoam Technology, a new proprietary construction that serves a dual purpose of generating ball speed as well as optimising sound and feel. Injected into the clubhead, SpeedFoam provides the face support and sound-damping properties that make the performance of the P790 unlike any other iron in the TaylorMade family.
The P790 also features re-engineered Inverted Cone Technology that allows for reduced face thickness (1.75mm) at the edges of the face, thus increasing flexibility from heel to toe and resulting in more ball speed across the entire face; as well as strategically placed internal metal injection-moulded (MIM) tungsten weighting for precise CG placement and higher moment of inertia (MOI).

Of course they also look great thanks to that premium high-gloss PVD coating, making each club look like something Batman might be packing.
Available from this month in both right and left-hand configurations, the P790 Black irons will be offered in 3-PW and come equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold 105 Black as well as the Golf Pride TV 360 Gray/Black.
