Alpina has added the first chronograph to its new Startimer Pilot Heritage collection with the arrival of the Startimer Pilot Heritage Chronograph.
Who doesn’t like a new chapter now and then? Sure, there’s nothing quite like consistency, especially when things are going well, but change can be refreshing too, even in the tradition-steeped world of watches.
Boasting a new design, a new complication, and most importantly, a new movement, the new model – the first chronograph in the Startimer Pilot Heritage collection – features a La Joux-Perret calibre, which offers over 40 percent more power reserve, as well as the aeronautically-inspired lines the brand is known for.
Robust, legible and practical with resolutely contemporary aesthetics, the new chronograph is available in four versions in blue, grey and bronze, and is characterised by its unique case, a clever compromise between a cushion-shape and the famous “Bullhead” styling, a design that ranks among the finest motorsport pieces.
This bicompax chronograph measures short time intervals (30 minutes) thanks to the AL-727 calibre, which oscillates at a high frequency of 4 Hz to ensure accuracy and shock-resistance. This new Startimer movement also offers a 55-hour power reserve, which is almost 45 percent more than its predecessor.
Last but not least, in the purest historical chronograph tradition, it has a single pushpiece, just like the first Alpina sports chronographs almost a century ago.
