St. Regis Hotels & Resorts in Asia Pacific will pay homage to the legendary St. Regis New York with a new cocktail programme.
Asia has a long legacy of outstanding hotel bars and the region’s leading luxury hotels continue to be home to some of the best watering holes this side of the Pacific. Now, some of those leading libation lounges are teaming up to create a new programme of 40 cocktails inspired by five Big Apple neighbourhoods as well as The Violet Hour, a dedicated ritual for martiniophiles.

Make a beeline for The St. Regis Shanghai Jingan, The St. Regis Singapore, and the new St. Regis Qingdao, the first hotels in the region to adopt the new St. Regis cocktail programme, which takes its inspiration from the famed King Cole Bar (below) at The St. Regis New York, the birthplace of the iconic Bloody Mary, a unique version of which is available at each St. Regis property.
Each of the new collection’s 40 cocktails evokes the mood and feel of each selected New York neighbourhood – Lower Manhattan, Midtown, Upper Manhattan, East Side, and West Side. For example, A Settled Trader remembers the Dutch settlers in the area now known as Tribeca and features butterfat-washed Genever, port, and banana liqueur, while United Market showcases an enjoyable afternoon in the vibrant oasis of Midtown’s Union Square with a combination of London Dry Gin, pineapple juice, sugar snap peas, and lemon juice.

The Cotton Club, a fragrant and complex whisky sour, pays tribute to the Prohibition-era nightclub of the same name in Upper Manhattan’s Harlem district, where high-society New Yorkers once flocked to hear jazz icons such as Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong; while The Mayor of Strawberry Fields represents the West Side, where John Lennon’s legacy of peace lives on in the Strawberry Fields garden memorial, with fragrant strawberry-infused Pisco, Chartreuse, jasmine, tarragon, and lime.
In addition to the new St. Regis cocktail collection, “The Violet Hour” has been inspired by The Hour: A Cocktail Manifesto by American author Bernard DeVoto, which highlights the violet hour each day that marks the transition from day to evening. During The Violet Hour guests will be invited for a taster of the signature Violet Hour Martini, made with gin, aromatized wine, orange and violette liqueurs and orange bitters, which will be served in bespoke glassware specially designed for St. Regis cocktail.
