If you’re looking to do your part for the planet, Prada is the latest brand to create a line made from 100 percent recycled ocean trash. Introducing the Prada Re-Nylon Collection.
We’ve seen a variety of brands tapping into the growing ocean plastic issue and developing collections made from recycled refuse. Prada is the latest luxury fashion house to join the fray, with the Prada Re-Nylon Collection made from 100 percent recycled ocean plastic. The fashion house has also declared that it will replace all nylon products with recyclable alternatives by 2021.
The bags of the Re-Nylon Collection are made from discarded fishing lines, which have been harvested as part of an effort to create recycled or recyclable alternatives. The bags of the new Prada Re-Nylon Collection are made from Econyl, a unique material developed by textile company Aquafil. The company blends ocean plastic with textile waste to create a material that can, in theory, be recycled indefinitely.
The fashion house has used this innovative material to create a range of modern unisex bags for the Prada Re-Nylon Collection, ranging from duffle-style travel bags and shoulder totes to a pair of chic backpacks. Each item in the collection comes in navy blue and is distinguished by a unique patch that comes in five colours, representing the five continents.
