If you’re looking for a great date night idea this Autumn, you can’t go past the new Pellicola Theatre Lounge in Wan Chai.
Who doesn’t love a little Cinema Paradiso from time to time, especially when you’re trying to stoke the fires of amour? Of course, it’s not always easy to find a suitable alfresco locale in a city that dedicates much of its lovin’ to the air conditioner, but that’s all about to change.
A hidden haven with picturesque views of the bustling Johnston Road tramway, Sophia Loren Rooftop transforms into Pellicola Theatre Lounge, an elegant outdoor cinema where classic films and contemporary favourites come to life against a vibrant urban backdrop.
This stunning urban oasis makes the most of Hong Kong’s temperate climate catering to 80 guests with vintage-style canvas director chairs, comfortable rattan sofas, and Chaise lounges, complemented by vibrant potted plants and warm fairy lights across the roof that create a sophisticated yet accessible space with a Mediterranean vibe.
The Sophia Loren Rooftop’s alfresco theatre will show films three times a week, with show time commencing at 8:15 p.m. every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday until the spring season in 2025. In addition, wireless audio headphones will be provided to all guests, ensuring an optimal movie-going experience. Tickets are HK$150 per person, inclusive of show entry, headset rental, one drink, and unlimited popcorn, or opt for the light dinner package (HK$288) that includes a choice from the restaurant’s pizza menu.
Also look out for the venue’s silent discos, which also make the most of the best season of the year.
