To mark the 40th anniversary of its casually elegant but now iconic Nautilus collection, Patek Philippe has released a new version in platinum.
There’s little doubt that Patek’s Nautilus timepieces, with their clean, almost futuristic lines, are a favourite with watch collectors the world over. However, before you make one your own, you might want to look at this very special release.
Marking its 40th anniversary, Patek Philippe has created the ref. 5711/1P Time-And-Date in Platinum in a limited series of 700 pieces. With its platinum case, the bold new model perpetuates a grand tradition that began with a stainless steel debut model in 1976 and while it is reminiscent of the original Nautilus Ref. 3700/1A, it also suggests the subtle evolution of the model line during the past 40 years.

The 44 mm case is crafted from solid platinum 950, and as with all other Patek Philippe platinum watches, feature a flawless rare white Top Wesselton diamond (approx. 0.02 ct.) in the bezel above the lugs at 6 o’clock. This gem complements the diamonds set on each of 12 18k white gold batons found on the dial, which features a dark blue hue with a bright/dark gradation from the inside to the outside.
The piece’s self-winding caliber 324 S C movement, visible through the sapphire-crystal case back, features both a Gyromax and Spiromax balance spring – both Patek Philippe inventions – which guarantee a high rate accuracy.
