With a spate of new spirits being launched by innovative distillers keen to jump on the CBD bandwagon, Muhu Gin stands out, with a bold, fruity profile and a design that takes its inspiration from one of your favourite holiday destinations.
Gin. Who would have thought that this mood-stimulation libation would have such a dramatic renaissance? There are new gins launching every day of the year, across the world, many capturing the essence of the locale in which they are produced. So how do you stand out among so much gin-infused white noise? You add a touch of stigma.
CBD or cannabidiol to be exact (and before you get too excited), the non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis and its innocuous sibling hemp. Created by Sally Wynter, Muhu Gin is infused with organic hemp-derived cannabidiol as well as sweet hibiscus to create a thoroughly modern gin expression that will also, in theory, help reduce inflammation and bring a calming sense of zen to the drinker.
Made with CBD sourced from Canada that’s free from pesticides and chemicals and doesn’t impact any actual flavour on the spirit, Muhu Gin takes its name from a beach shack that Wynter enjoyed while exploring Thailand’s west coast, with the bottle designed to emulate the waves of the Andaman Sea, and the colours representing its most important ingredients, purple for hibiscus and green for, you guessed it, sticky icky (or more exactly its duller, sit-at-home sibling).
Muhu Gin recently launched in the UK, where CBD is not only legal but has been embraced (so be sure to add it to the shopping list of visiting mules…sorry, relatives this Christmas) and is eyeing global expansion as CBD products become more common.
