Located at H Queens in Central Hong Kong, Mona at Pazzi Isshokenmei shakes up the city’s speakeasy scene with Japanese-inspired libations.
Few paintings have the reputation and mystery of the Mona Lisa. Did you know that some art historians believe the painting is an uncompleted work? You may also have heard that the painting was stolen in 1911 and that Picasso himself was once a suspect. In addition to her iconic smile, the good lady has left a legacy that has lingered long after the paint dried and now Da Vinci’s acclaimed portrait has inspired Hong Kong’s newest cocktail divan.

Opening September 1 at H Queens, Mona at Pazzi Isshokenmei will lure guests into its realm of Japanese-inspired cocktails, which can be enjoyed either in the beautifully intimate main bar or on the terrace.
Continuing Pazzi Isshokenmei’s motif of Western Japanese fare, Mona embraces symbolic ingredients including pistachio, elderflower, and matcha. Bee’s Kochi features yuzu and embarks guests on an adventure to Kochi, one of Japan’s largest producers of yuzu. The tangy tea-based concoction features chamomile, a drizzle of honey, and the famed Japanese Roku gin. Local Japan is made for those wanting to quench their thirst and features sugar cane juice, shiso (also known as Perilla leave), and imperatae, a tropical grass known for its soothing abilities.

In addition, the Mona Tomball pays homage to one of Japan’s favourite bubbly drinks, the whisky highball. With an option of gin or whiskey, the cocktail further showcases its Nippon inspiration with Fuji apple shrub as a crowning touch. The Lisa Sour is Mona’s rendition of a cocktail classic, the Whiskey Sour, and balances the invigorating tones of citrus with egg-washed whisky and an unconventional splash of red wine.
Celebrating its opening, Mona launches an enticing series of offers every Monday to Thursday during which specific drinks are half price. Monday is bottled wines while Tuesday includes sakes and champagnes and Wednesday offers are reserved for Perfume Trees Gin. All drinks are half-price for ladies every Thursday.
We’re sure Mona Lisa would approve.
